Simple, step-by-step instructions on how to use the Sitemap Inspector tool:
- Open the Tool
Go to the web page where the Sitemap Inspector is hosted. You should see a clean, simple form. - Enter Your Website or Sitemap URL
In the input box, type your website URL (for example,https://www.example.com
) or the direct link to your sitemap (for example,https://www.example.com/sitemap.xml
). - Click “Inspect Sitemap”
Once you have entered the URL, click the “Inspect Sitemap” button. This will start the scanning process. - Watch the Progress Bar
A progress bar will appear to let you know that the tool is working. This shows you that the scan is in progress. - Review the Summary
After a few moments, the tool will display a summary. The summary shows:- The website URL you entered.
- The sitemap URL found.
- The type of sitemap (regular or sitemap index).
- The total number of URLs found.
- A table that lists each sitemap (or sub-sitemap) and the number of URLs it contains.
- Export the Data (Optional)
If you want to save the data, click the “Export to Excel” button. This downloads an Excel file with a summary of the sitemaps and URL counts. - Troubleshooting
- If you see any error messages, check that you entered the correct URL.
- If the tool does not find a sitemap, try entering a direct sitemap URL instead of just your domain.
- Ensure your internet connection is stable.
That’s it! Enjoy using the tool for quick and free sitemap inspections. Feel free to use it as many times as you like!
Happy inspecting!
